Savor the Moments

Crane Fly 2 by Carol McGraw

I’ve been a rather wistful mood these last few weeks.  Part of it is that I have been watching the spring change into early summer, bright blossoms disappearing petal by petal.  Part of it is a sense of loss I feel at this time of year because my mother’s birthday was at the end of May.  It’s been six years since she’s been in this world and I miss her so.

I have been feeling my own mortality, too – I’m no spring chicken.  I found a dead crane fly on my window sill a while ago.  It was a beautiful reminder of how fleeting life really is.  We must acknowledge that the life around us and in us is moving on.  We must take it as a call to action to be our best selves now and to make the most of the time we are given.
